Over many years Chambers has provided legal advice and representation for police officers facing misconduct proceedings and or criminal charges.

Accountability in public office often means that a police officer’s career can be in jeopardy. The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is a body which handles police complaints. In April 2006, the IPCC’s remit was extended to include serious complaints relating to staff at the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) and at Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC). February 2008 saw its jurisdiction extended further to include serious complaints and conduct matters relating to officers and officials at the UK Border Agency. This is a clear indication that professional standards are to be maintained and those in authority are to be held to account.
