Experience

Her practice includes serious sexual offences, fraud, murder and drugs cases. She has considerable experience in handling vulnerable witnesses in court and has been instructed in a range of child abuse and cruelty cases.

She has been asked to speak at the Sexual Offences course for French judges and prosecutors, to be held at the offices of L’Ecole Nationale de la Magistrature in Paris in September 2012.

Madeleine has substantial experience in defending cases where mental health is an issue. She has successfully argued insanity, duress and lack of intent in offences such as GBH, possession of firearms, sexual assault and other serious matters both in the Crown Court and Court of Appeal. Her cases frequently involve complex medical evidence and she often instructs and questions experts on a wide gamut of issues.

She is also instructed in an increasing number of fraud offences with many cases involving multiple complainants and defendants.

She has appeared in Courts Martial hearings and before the Police Disciplinary Appeal Tribunal.
