Jo was also delighted to be invited by CPD provider CPDcast.com to record a podcast on Dangerous Dogs and upon the new Animal Welfare Act.
Jo was asked to lecture last year with the well regarded dog law specialists Cooper and Co on their nationwide lecture tour. She is always keen to assist either in court or in an advisory capacity with regard to animal welfare issues. She recently attended a conference in Brussels as an advisor to Pet Safe Ltd. She has a keen interest in advising and representing vets who have queries about the Animal Welfare Act and other issues.
Court martials
As part of her burgeoning practice Jo has recently defended at Court Martials in Germany and prides herself on her dedicated approach to defending military personal. She is keen to continue this area of practice and welcomes instructions whether legally aided or under the public access provisions.
Licensing
Jo has successfully appealed a decision to refuse a licence to sell alcohol to Millwall Rugby Club.
Before coming to the Bar Jo was a police station legal advisor for six years and has built up a wealth of knowledge of this earlier stage of criminal proceedings. This piece of practical experience combined with the academic training of the Bar gives Jo an advantage over many advocates when considering breaches of PACE 1984 and other aspects of police investigations. She has seen at first hand the vulnerability of clients from the time of first arrest and beyond.
Jo is part of Chambers' public access team because she considers direct access and choice of representation for clients to be vital.
Jo gained valuable prosecution experience by completing a secondment at the Attorney General's Chambers in the Isle of Man.
Jo works for the Bar Pro Bono Unit and the Free Representation Unit.
