Experience:
Oliver has acted as a junior in a number of high-profile cases and appeared successfully in the Court of Appeal - in respect of both conviction and sentence - and also upon matters of judicial review.
Recently, Oliver has mainly concentrated on defending clients charged with the supply and importation of class A drugs, offences of violence (particualrly robbery), including the possession and use firearms, serious sexual offences, and large scale conspiracies. A large number of these cases have involved lengthy and detailed analysis and cross-examination of cell site evidence and mobile telephone communication data, as well as other expert forensic evidence relating to fingerprints, DNA, ballistics and drug cultivation.
As well as strictly criminal matters, Oliver has represented clients at Coroner’s Inquests, including those involving juries, and has been instructed to appear for clients at professional regulatory hearings.
Over the years, Oliver has acted as a legal advisor on television programmes both for the BBC and independent production companies.

Currently instructed as junior counsel in a 120 million pound money laundering case at Birmingham Crown Court.
R –v- BH
Inquest conducted with a jury involving the representation of the family of the deceased who had been under a Mental Health order at a psychiatric unit when she died on escorted leave.

Case involving the defence of a client accused of multiple counts of sexually abusing two girls under the age of ten whilst staying the night at their house.
R –v- K
Case of a client accused of historic sexual abuse of his step-daughter dating back to the mid 1970s.

The successful defence of a client whose case was appealed by the prosecution and referred to the Court of Appeal under the provisions of s.58 CJA 2003.

An unusual case of a young client involved in a three-way cut throat on an allegation of aiding and abetting grievous bodily harm.
